National care home open day

Hamble Heights are pleased to be supporting the first National Care Home Open Day on Friday 21st June. Care homes across the UK will be opening their doors and inviting their local communities to join them for a variety of events to build relationships and change perceptions of care homes. We would like to invite you to come and join us for a vintage afternoon tea between 2pm and 5pm, with live music from 3pm and find out more about how Hamble Heights is spear heading change in nursing and dementia care.

A Successful official opening

On Thursday 2nd May, the sun was shining and we celebrated our official opening. To an invited audience of residents, local councillors, healthcare officials, business partners and staff, David Hines, CEO of Hamble Heights, outlined the innovative thinking behind our purpose built home and its state of the art facilities across the complete range of care needs – including nursing and specialist dementia care.

We are extremely privileged to be joined by Professor Anthea Innes, Director of the Bournemouth University Dementia Institute, who will be conducting the official opening and ribbon cutting. A published author and a renowned figure in her profession, Professor Innes understands the need for specialist, tailored care for people with dementia and their families.

Leading the way in the understanding of Dementia

On the evening of Tuesday 23rd April we were joined by Patricia McParland, Project Manager at Bournemouth University’s Dementia Institute (BUDI) for a presentation on ‘Dementia and the public’. Patricia is in her final year of a PhD exploring public attitudes and responses to Dementia and has tutored a series of modules about dementia at the University of Stirling. To an audience of invited local healthcare officials, medical practitioners and business partners, Patricia delivered an extremely thought provoking presentation followed by an informal Q & A session after.

Designing care homes for dementia

On the 7th March, our Interior Designer Hannah Cokeley, gave a talk to healthcare professionals and local business partners on designing care homes for residents who suffer from dementia. It was a very successful discussion, as Hannah was able to showcase her philosophy on design, hints and tips that are useful around any home and how she has brought her passion for design and care into Hamble Heights.
