A Successful official opening

On Thursday 2nd May, the sun was shining and we celebrated our official opening. To an invited audience of residents, local councillors, healthcare officials, business partners and staff, David Hines, CEO of Hamble Heights, outlined the innovative thinking behind our purpose built home and its state of the art facilities across the complete range of care needs – including nursing and specialist dementia care.

Renowned dementia expert, Professor Anthea Innes, Director of the Bournemouth University Dementia Institute, gave a short speech on the importance of high quality facilities in the UK. She concluded that “Dementia is such an important issue for today’s ageing society. Therefore high quality facilities, like those offered here at Hamble Heights, play such an important part in enriching the lives of our elderly population and those individuals and families affected by dementia”.

We then asked our first resident at Hamble Heights, Janet Smith, to join Professor Innes in cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Guests enjoyed a celebratory lunch and show-rounds of the amazing facilities. The opening was deemed a great success and means that Southampton is now home to one of the South’s most prestigious and state-of-the-art care facilities.
