We need your help

Can you provide a few hours support each week?

During these challenging times, we are asking people to volunteer if you have some spare time and would like to help in our care homes.

This might be for a few hours, or as much as time as you can give. This could be to assist with some gardening, perhaps helping in the kitchen, or simply doing a jigsaw puzzle with our residents to keep them company.

We need your help

In the coming weeks, Encore Care Homes will be supporting our NHS and Social Services colleagues, by welcoming new residents into our homes. Therefore, the more support we can raise at our homes, the more we can be prepared to provide the best care and companionship.

Perhaps you have a few hours you could spare a week to help? Or, could you make a personal appeal to a friend or family member that can help. All we ask is that you can volunteer a minimum of 8 hours a month. If you can spare more time, it would be gratefully appreciated.

Check out Katie’s video for more information.

Volunteering Requirements

Please be rest assured we are following government guidelines to keep our residents, staff and volunteers safe. Supporting our care teams is vital to the overall care being provided to our residents and this additional support will go a long way.

Before you can get started and apply to become a volunteer you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be fit and well with no coronavirus symptoms
  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Have the necessary DBS check

You will also receive an induction, so you know what to expect, how you can best help, as well as gain a better understanding about the home you are volunteering in.

You will need to follow all the protection procedures that our current team do every time they come to work.

It’s worth noting that HMRC has stated that furloughed staff can volunteer for other organisations, even if they are currently furloughed and receiving 80% of their wage.

What we will provide

As part of the volunteering process we will be providing:
  • DBS checks (at our cost)
  • Online training
  • In-house induction for all volunteers
  • Suitable PPE equipment
  • Free meal and drinks (if covering a mealtime)

How to apply
