To celebrate the change in season and temperature, Encore created this competition to encourage our care teams in all of Encore’s homes to enjoy time spent outside with residents, as part of the company’s ‘A Breath of Fresh Care’ ambition.
This initiative came about after recent studies showed that 50 per cent of care home residents never go outside, and on average, those that do only spend 90 seconds a week outdoors.
It is therefore Encore’s ambition to buck this national trend and offer every resident in our homes the opportunity to spend a minimum of 60 minutes a week outside.
Throughout May we were all challenged to take as many photos as possible of different residents outside enjoying our gardens. The home that has taken the most photos will be given the chance to choose a selection of prizes to benefit residents and staff and encourage more time outdoors.
