Great News at Great Oaks!

Great Oaks, the brand new residential, nursing and dementia care home in Bournemouth is now OPEN!

Following a successful CQC inspection on 20th June, Great Oaks, the purpose-built care home in Bournemouth is now officially open.  The 80-bed care home offers the very best nursing, dementia and residential facilities within a private woodland setting.

Over the past 18 months, we have replaced the disused and derelict Addington Clinic on Poole Lane with a fantastic new, modern development. Great Oaks is located just a few minutes’ drive from Bournemouth, Ferndown and Poole.

This is our second care home to open within 6 months.  We opened the much-anticipated Fairmile Grange care home on the grounds at Christchurch Hospital on 23rd December 2016.  Fairmile Grange is in partnership with the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The hidden gem

What sets it apart from many new-builds is that Great Oaks is situated in a private woodland area. It has 180 degree views of its leafy surroundings. Consequently, it a real hidden gem.  The serene, green location offers residents a tranquil and scenic environment. Therefore, residents are able to completely relax and enjoy the peaceful ambience.

Environments full of light and space are health-giving.  As such, the architectural design of Great Oaks incorporated large windows to its façade.   All of the bedrooms at Great Oaks are generously sized and feature private en suite wet-rooms.  Additionally, there is movement-triggered lighting and adaptable lighting levels in every bedroom.  We have also designed the building with underfloor heating for efficiency and the wellbeing of residents.

Great Oaks is designed to ensure residents feel relaxed, happy and safe within a homely ambience. Alongside this, our architects and interior designers have created a care home that enables the facilitation of first class care.

Leading the way

Great Oaks is now open and subsequently Home Manager, Ian MacDonald, is looking forward to welcoming its first residents,

I am excited to be leading an incredible team of care professionals. Their compassion and kindness are at the core of everything that we do. Whether you would like to attend an Open Day, a special event, or you would just like to pop in for a cuppa and take a look around – our doors are always open.”
