Encore Care Homes mark annual Remembrance Day

Our fantastic Wellbeing teams across our care homes came up with some poignant and creative ways to mark Remembrance Day with our residents.

Our care homes were covered in a field of colourful poppies in honour of Remembrance Day which took place last Thursday 11 November and Remembrance Sunday on 14 November.

The Hamble Heights team created poppies to surround the communal TVs in the lounges, and painted wooden poppies to decorate the windows. They were also joined by a performer who sang some wartime favourites last Thursday afternoon.

Residents at Oakdale enjoyed some poppy crafts and over at Fairmile Grange they made tissue paper poppies for their window displays, and silk poppy arrangements in vases, as well as reading poems, enjoying a wartime singalong, and sharing stories about the war.

Over at Great Oaks, the team organised crafts for the residents to participate in each day, including a display on each floor including painting poppies, making poppies out of tissue paper, and listening to poems and stories from the war.
