Registered Nurses provide optimum quality of care to elderly residents, offering support to the multi-professional team. Will take management responsibility for an identified area on regular shifts.

The focus of the role is to support residents and to provide consultancy and guidance for colleagues in order to improve quality of care. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that the needs of our residents are met.

Key duties will include:

  • To provide specialist nursing assessment, evidenced based intervention, advice and support for carers.
  • Responsible for clinical assessment of residents, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated, involving residents and users.
  • To promote the rights, interests, needs and choices of carers and people with dementia in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care and services.
  • To liaise with GPs, case managers, primary health care practitioners, statutory and voluntary agencies regarding the best possible care for the family affected by dementia
  • To maintain clinical records and provide verbal and written feedback appropriately and as required, to carers, and persons with dementia as appropriate, and referring agencies and professional colleagues.
  • To integrate into practice current knowledge of dementia and caring, informed by research and other forms of evidence.

*Payable to those on contracts of 36 hours plus per week: £500 paid upon successful probation period. £500 paid after six months successful service.

Health Care Assistants assist in the delivery of care, planned and assessed by Senior Health Care Assistants and Registered Nurses by directly providing practical, physical, social and emotional care. Supporting all residents in a manner sensitive to each individual’s needs and wishes, acknowledging their rights and beliefs at all times.

Key duties will include:

  • Provide and deliver a high standard of nursing, care (i.e. washing, mouth care, toileting, manual handling & mobility), recognising and meeting the specific needs of residents. With indirect supervision, to manage own clinical workload within the given competencies of the post.
  • Support residents who may have a wide range of differing requirements.
  • Join and assist in hobbies or crafts.
  • Write and maintain accurate records of care on a daily basis, maintaining fluid balance and dietary charts, recognising, recording and reporting all adverse findings to nurses.
  • When required and once fully trained, assist with prescribed medication and accurately complete Medication Administration Records (MAR charts).
  • Communicate with family, friends and other healthcare professionals on the resident’s behalf.
