Dementia Awareness Week

This year during Dementia Awareness Week, the Alzheimer’s Society is encouraging anyone who worried about dementia to confront their concerns and get in touch.  At Hamble Heights, we have been raising the profile of Dementia Awareness Week within the care home in our own way by creating a music video….!

Our Activities Coordinator, Vanessa, has been having fun with residents making a music video to the Michael Jackson song, “Blame it on the Boogie”!  Vanessa has filmed our residents, staff and relatives all bopping along to the tune and singing.  There are lots of short clips that she is editing together into one music video and includes our residents showing their hand at a variety of different activities – but most importantly, having a jolly good time!

Our green-fingered residents have also enjoyed being out in the garden this week, doing some planting.  Additionally, entertainer Amanda has been engaging us all with her vintage style singing.

We can’t wait to see our “Blame it on the Boogie” video for Dementia Awareness Week, which we will be showing in the home for residents and their families to sing-along to and enjoy!
