Great Oaks’ Employees ‘Brave the Shave’ for Macmillan

Great Oaks took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning today from 10.30am-2pm. This is Macmillan Cancer Support’s largest nationwide fundraising event and we joined people from all over the UK to host a coffee morning with the funds from the sale of coffee and cakes going to Macmillan. Residents and their families, as well as members of the community, were invited to come along and support this well-deserving charity.

In the lead-up to the coffee morning, our on-site catering team prepared some delicious homemade treats using locally sourced ingredients. Guests enjoyed some tea and cake outside in our beautifully landscaped garden.

To help boost donations for Macmillan our activities manager, Sue Goktas, and one of our nurses, Carole Patrick, took part in ‘Brave the Shave’ joining more than 9,000 people across the UK who have already done so this year so far. Lots of people came to support, shouting encouragement for Sue and Carole as they bravely shaved off their hair in aid of this great cause.

The event raised over £1,500 for the charity!  We would like to express our respect and admiration to Sue and Carole for their part in raising so much money with their ‘Brave the Shave’.  Thank you also to everyone who attended and helped us to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.
