First anniversary celebrations for Great Oaks

Throughout the day Great Oaks put on a variety of activities to ensure that residents, staff members and guests of all ages were entertained. The summer fete consisted of a barbecue, bouncy castle, fete stalls, face painting and “Soak the Manager”, which involved guests throwing sponges at Great Oaks’ home manager, Ian MacDonald.

In addition to the fun-filled activities, Great Oaks also prepared a raffle, which had many prizes, including a two night caravan stay at Rockley Park, a Lemur Landings family pass and a £50 cosmetic voucher.

Ian MacDonald, home manager of Great Oaks, explained: “All together we raised approximately £800 for the Great Oaks residents’ fund, which helps pay for trips out, treats and entertainment for the residents. We would therefore like to say a big thank you to all of our hard working team for organising the party and to everyone who came along.”

The summer fete was also an opportunity for guests to take a tour around the grounds of Great Oaks and view the state-of-the-art facilities the care home offers.

Ian continued: “It was wonderful to be able to celebrate our first anniversary, with our residents, their family and the community. In just one year we have achieved so much, so we were delighted to share this memory with people who have supported us along the way. We are looking forward to continuing to provide excellent care in the year ahead and host more events for the local community.”
