It feels good
to be home

At Encore, we know the significance of the finer details when it comes to conveying what ‘home’ means to each of us. We are focused on ensuring every small detail about what makes you feel at home is addressed – because sometimes the small things can make the biggest difference.

What is it that makes us feel at home?

“Having my family and friends close by”

Whether it’s your family or our family of carers, there’s always someone to chat with whenever you want company.

“Reading the paper in my favourite armchair”

There’s nothing quite like sinking into your favourite chair to help you feel at home.

“The cat asleep on my lap, with a good book”

If you’re an animal lover, we often have furry friends who live at or visit the Home

“Knowing I’ve always got someone to call or talk to”

Feel comforted by the companionship of new friends – our team is here for you anytime, day or night.

Book a visit and feel it for yourself

We have care homes in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in Dorset, and Fareham in Hampshire.  Each home offers the same high standards in care and have all been purpose-built. You can view our care homes by following the links below or contact us today to find out more information.

“Everyone here all seems to enjoy what they do”

Lovely mention to activities that I always feel go above and beyond. There's always plenty to do - trips, singers games and the girls are also super happy and friendly to chat with, and lovely to see them smiling with Mum knowing she is happy and in the best hands. Thank you for all you do. Food always looks well presented, and the home always seems to be in a positive atmosphere. Thank you.

“Always welcoming to visit. Staff friendly”

Home is always decorated to a high standard e.g. Halloween, Remembrance Day, Christmas.
The Remembrance Day was exceptional. The staff put in such an effort. The buffet was one of the best I have had!

“The staff are kind and very helpful. I’ve been well looked after”

The nursing facilities are great. The home is clean, tidy, and warm and the cleaners come every day. My room is clean, warm and tidy and great hygiene. The garden is very pretty and suits our needs. It's been great to meet new friends while staying here. There are activities offered all day with entertainment and animals bought into the home.

“The team could not have been more efficient or kind”

My mother was a resident of Oakdale. The kindness, care, respect and dignity given to my mother during her stay there were superb. I could not have wished for anything better other than to have moved her in earlier. Their knowledge of handling someone with dementia and end-of-life could not have been faulted. They also extended their care to the family, which was very much appreciated.
I would also like to thank the group for the rapid response team. It was wonderful to find someone who understood exactly what I was going through, and the speed and response were more than I expected or even encountered anywhere else.

Can now rest assured Mum is receiving 24-hour care from an extremely tentative care team. The activity team excel with either activities/animal therapy/entertainers (or even trips) every day to stimulate their minds and well-being. I look forward to visiting Mum, where I can now spend (what I consider to be) quality time with her now, without the former worries of her living alone.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a care home and a nursing home?

Both provide accommodation, supervision from care staff 24 hours a day, meals and support with personal care needs. However, nursing homes also have registered nurses on duty around the clock. This means that they provide care for residents with complex needs and those that require frequent nursing interventions.

Does moving into a care home result in complete loss of independence?

No. We can help you with as much or as little as you require. Independence is as much about making your own choices as it is about still being able to do things for yourself. A full healthcare assessment will help to identify any areas that you might require additional assistance; however, aside from nursing care needs, we will be led by you and your wishes.

Who will be looking after my loved one?

Every Encore care home has a dedicated team of care professionals. We only employ the kindest and most committed team members to work for Encore. As a rule, each floor of the home has a fantastic team of Healthcare Assistants, as well as a Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Nurse. The care teams get to know every single person in their care; including the individuals likes, dislikes and care needs.

How does Encore ensure it employs the best staff?

Our care teams receive constant training and development – not only from our dedicated Learning and Development Team.

What is the process of moving our loved one into an Encore care home?

We know that the decision to move into a residential care home can be one of the most difficult for families. However, our aim is to make the transition as easy as possible to ensure you and your loved ones feel welcome. We provide your loved one with a full healthcare assessment prior to admission to find out about their care needs and ensure that we have everything they require. The home admissions team will then liaise with the resident and family to arrange a move in date that suits you.

Can we choose a bedroom?

Absolutely. If there is more than one bedroom available on the appropriate floor, you will have the choice. Different floors often specialise in different care needs, therefore, your loved one will be alongside residents with similar care requirements.
